By definition:

  1. To extract (information) from various sources

  2. To collect gradually and bit by bit

That’s what I’m here to do and report back to you through my weekly blog and newsletter. Take what works and leave the rest. If anything, enjoy the gorgeous flower pictures.

Last week’s Recap:

  • Perennials in the gardens are starting to bloom. Our roses, like the one above, bring me so much excitement I ALMOST want to work in the gardens when it’s 93 degrees. But I don’t because I don’t do well in crazy heat. I do about as well as dehydrated dahlia! (fun fact: dahlias are water hogs and now you get the joke)

  • Designed for a couple that are getting married in Utah and taking their wedding photos in Fargo.

  • Created a jewel toned bridal bouquet and boutonniere for The Archers Photography offering Bridal Shoots for their clients with the higher end wedding package.

  • Flower subscriptions went out the door that continue to amaze me on what I get to offer you with locally grown flower farms from the US.

  • School is out for summer! The girls can’t wait to get to work in the gardens and floral studio - cue both of them rolling their eyes until they need to go to the mall with their friends.

Blooming in the Gardens

Gardens are starting to take bloom. This is the first year that we have flowers blooming in June. Total win adding perennials to the mix. That was always in the plan and now we are reaping the benefits!

New seeds planted this past weekend:

  • Unique colors of Cosmos and Zinnias

  • Basil - because the foliage is amazing and who doesn’t love the smell, let alone the taste

  • Chamomile - extremely cute and dainty plus you can make tea out of it

  • Clover to cover seed some bare ground to keep it nourished this year while we don’t plant that area.

  • Perennial Sweet Peas - bright pinks and purples which I normally wouldn’t try but since I love sweet peas so much I had to try the perennial version

  • Perennial Bee Balm - another absolute favorite in smells and style. The past couple of years we have grown the annual version so it’s time to try something new!

  • Don’t tell anyone but I got two types of sun - flowers - I don’t want to type this in my website because then my seo will be infiltrated with requests. I do not love designing with them however these ones are pretty special. You never know - they may change my mind.
