August Detroit Lakes, MN Lakeside Styled Shoot

I met wedding and event photographer, Haley Frost Creative, when I was reaching out to wedding vendors in the Fargo, North Dakota and Moorhead, Minnesota area back in January 2020. I wanted to introduce myself as a new wedding florist that had the specialty of growing flowers for our clients.

We hit it off right away after sharing each other's love of locally grown flowers, creating space for photography and working with clients that are like minded in sustainable practices.

What is so special about this photo shoot is that all the flowers in the floral designs are from my garden in my first year as a cut flower grower and wedding florist. This is a time when everything is new and exciting. Trying out designs and concepts that I have never done before or evolving from the way I knew to do things and using mechanics that I now know are better for the earth and environment.

It was also my first year in owning my own floral design business built off of horticulture, aka plants, love of sustainability and people celebrating their special occasions in weddings and events.

We decided to let the flowers do all the talking. Bold, jewel toned flower color palette with the softness of the sand and movement of the lake. The couple's puppy brought in a lightheartedness that only dogs can bring. We tried placing a flower dog collar on the guy but he thought a bandana was way more fitting.

The day could not have been any more beautiful to share with the world how amazing locally grown flowers can transform a couple celebrating their wedding day. This was not the couple’s actual wedding day however the love that they share with each other definitely comes through with photos. It was a pleasure working with a real couple to portrait joy, happiness and the love for one another and the lakes area.
