Wedding Floral Consultations

How to prepare for your wedding floral consultation

After you start your wedding planning it seems like there are a million meetings to setup to find out who you like the best. Coming prepared to a wedding floral design consultation will help you know quickly if you are a good fit for each other.

What you want to determine in your meeting is:

  1. Are they listening?

  2. Do you have a connection with their values as a company?

  3. Do they get the style and feel you are going for your wedding day?

When you come prepared to a wedding floral consultation, it gives you the confidence to know what questions you want answered, keeps the meeting short and sweet, and know who you can trust with your wedding day flowers.

Here are some ways that can help you in preparing for your wedding floral consultation:

  1. Fill out their Wedding Day Floral Inquiry Form

    • Normally found on their website under inquire or weddings tab

    • This helps the wedding florist briefly know about you and your wedding day before the conversation

  2. Send inspiration photos

    • Pictures tell a florist a lot about what you are looking for in colors and style.

    • Something to try: Find a picture(s) that you love that do not involve flowers: a favorite spot for the two of you, a painting that you love and/or even a favorite outfit. Inspiration can come from more than floral pictures to make it true to your style for your wedding day.

  3. Schedule a time when you have the least distraction

    • Our consultations are over the phone so funny enough I have a lot of couples schedule their consultations in their cars at lunch time. It gets them away from the office computer and desk to allow time to focus.

    • Wherever it is, remember this time is supposed to be fun and about you!

  4. Write down any questions you have prior and don’t be afraid to ask

    • All questions are valid. Be honest with what is on your mind when it comes to wedding flowers and what you want to learn. We are the experts and want to give you as much knowledge about the process and what it all means to hiring a wedding florist.

    • You know when you can ask anything and feel heard, you have found the right wedding florist.

  5. Be Open

    • Most couples have no idea what flowers for their wedding are going to cost and it can be a little shocking when a proposal comes back from the consultation. There are a lot of factors that come with the price of a hand bouquet, floral arrangements, even greens down the center of a guest table: emails, meetings, mood boards, creating flower lists to order, talking with floral farmers/wholesalers to order flowers, ordering any hard goods (vases, ribbons, pins, etc.), processing flowers when they arrive, storing the flowers in coolers, design, storing floral designs, scheduling staff for your wedding day and then of course, your wedding day delivery and setup.

    • Be open to suggestions from the florist. They most likely have been in the business for awhile and can help you, as a team, figure out what works best for your wedding day.

Take these tips to your next wedding floral consultation and even if you don’t know exactly what you are looking for, it will be clear who you will work best with to help guide you in their floral designing uniquely to you for your wedding day.
